Stefano Tavilla lost his daughter, Giulia to bulimia in Italy in 2011. Following her death, Tavilla committed to spreading eating disorder awareness throughout Italy, using the Lilac Ribbon as a symbol for his cause. The Lilac Ribbon has since been adopted by WEDD as an international symbol for action against eating disorders. It represents hope, memory, recovery, respect, and the bringing together of those who have suffered alone.
